Martin Morawski joined Hamelink & Van den Tooren as VAT partner in January 2025 after having been for 13 years with Baker McKenzie as a tax lawyer. 

He is recognized for his pragmatic, strategic and creative approach to addressing VAT issues.

Specializing in financial services, Martin is highly regarded in the FinTech market. He is the day-to-day trusted adviser of established FinTech players such as banks, payment providers, crypto service providers, brokers, trading platforms, and exchanges globally, navigating them through their global VAT challenges.

Martin has a proven track record in capital markets and financing arrangements, including lease-, mortgage-, and asset-backed securitizations. His expertise also extends to VAT matters concerning investment funds, holding companies, and financing companies.

As an attorney, Martin has litigated numerous VAT cases on behalf of a diverse client base before Dutch courts as well as the European Court of Justice. 

Additionally, he has served as a Board member of the NOB VAT Committee and lectures on procedural tax law at the NOB. Martin holds an LLM in Tax Law from the University of Amsterdam (2011) and an LLM in International and European Law from Maastricht University (2011).
