After moving to the Netherlands, she joined Loyens & Loeff N.V., where she worked as tax advisor and litigator for more than 10 years. In 2019, Almut founded her own tax law firm, Breuer Fiscale Advocatuur. She specialises in tax dispute resolution and is experienced in formal tax law, such as the rules on information requests, the imposition of and objection against tax assessments, tax procedures before the Dutch courts and the Court of Justice of the European Union, tax fines and tax collection. Almut also works as an Assistant Professor at Maastricht University. There she teaches formal tax law and European tax law and conducts research at the intersection of both areas of law.
After completing the tax law education of the German tax authorities, Almut graduated in Law from the University of Cologne, in International and European Tax Law from the Universities Tilburg and Leuven and in Dutch Tax Law from the University of Amsterdam. She holds a PhD in international tax law from the University of Cologne. Almut is a member of the Dutch Bar Association (NOvA), the Dutch Bar Association of Tax Experts (NvAB) and the Dutch Association of Tax Advisers (NOB). She also is admitted to the bar in Germany as Rechtsanwältin.
