Mark Nieuweboer

Mark Nieuweboer is a corporate tax expert and university lecturer. He started his career in 1993 in the corporate tax group at one of the Big 4 accounting firms. In 1998 and 1999, he lived and worked in Paris. Between 2009 and 2018 he worked with a specialised tax boutique in The Hague. Throughout his career, he advised multinational companies in a variety of industries. He has a particular focus on dispute settlement, transactions, mergers and acquisitions (strategic and private-equity) and business recovery. As from August 2019 Mark joined forces with Hamelink & Van den Tooren as of counsel.

Besides his tax advisory activities, Mark is a lecturer at the Leiden University, where he teaches Corporate Income Tax and International and European Tax. He is writing a PhD thesis on anti-abuse principles in international taxation and regularly publishes in the major tax journals.

Mark is a regular annotator of case law in the Vakstudie Nieuws and NTFR (Nederlands Tijdschrift voor Fiscaal Recht). He also is a lecturer at the post-master courses on real estate and other topics. Finally, Mark is a member of the International Fiscal Association (IFA), the Dutch Association of Tax Advisors (NOB) and the Association of Tax Research (Vereniging voor Belastingwetenschap).
